Frequently Asked Questions about Plumbing
Q: Why is it important to hire a green plumbing company? Is there really a difference?
A: For some plumbing companies, being green is just a word they use in their marketing. For us, it’s a way of life. Quality 1st Plumbing is the first company in Colorado to become a GreenPlumber, a national training and accreditation program to assist plumbers in their quest for providing environmentally safe alternatives to their customers. Our commitment to green plumbing means:
- The promotion of more energy efficient plumbing installations, like hot water circulation systems.
- The promotion of water saving shower heads and faucets.
- The promotion of water saving toilet installation.
- Use of environmentally friendly drain openers and cleaners.
Q: Do green drain cleaners really work?
A: It all depends on how clogged your drain is. Start by trying some of the most common methods of cleaning a drain with green products. If your drain is still clogged after trying each of these, then its time to call in the professionals.
Q: I’ve been hearing a lot about tankless water heaters. Is that my best option?
A: Tankless water heaters may offer some benefits, but the high cost usually makes them not one of your best choices.
Instead, we usually recommend to our clients a Hot Water Circulation System. This system can be installed easily in your home, and give you access to instant hot water, and time you choose to turn on your water. It can save thousands of gallons of water per year just by eliminating the need to run the water until warm.
Q: How long do water heaters last?
A: Water heaters typically last 10-15 years. Quality 1st Plumbing would be happy to take a look at your water heater, clean it and perform routine maintenance, and let you know its current condition.
Q: I’m doing some remodeling and would like several gas lines to be moved and installed. Can you do that?
A: Yes, Quality 1st Plumbing is fully trained in installing and moving gas lines.
If you need help installing a new gas fireplace, want a line to install a new gas grill, or are looking to stay warm in your backyard this summer with a new gas fire pit, we can help you. Simply give us a call.
Q: I bought new fixtures for my bathroom several months ago, and just can’t find the time to install them? Would you do it?
A: Yes. Quality 1st Plumbing will ensure each fixture is installed correctly. We can do it all in a fraction of the time it would take you, and get that item off of your to-do list.
Q: I’m in the process of buying a new home. Is there anything I should be looking at in the new home before I buy?
A: A good home inspector should be able to access the condition of the appliances, water heater, and other fixtures throughout your potential home.
One are you may want to invest in that isn’t a part of a normal home inspection is a sewer inspection, especially if you are purchasing an older home. Tree roots and debris can accumulate over time. By requesting a sewer inspection, you can determine the condition of your lines, and determine appropriate action steps from there.
