Have you ever stopped to think about how many times your furnace turns on and off in a year?
For most systems, they operate 2 to 3 cycles per hour. In mild weather, each cycle will last 10 to 15 minutes, while increasing as the temperatures drop.
That’s a lot of cycles each season! Especially if your furnace is several years old.
When was the last time you scheduled a maintenance visit just to ensure your furnace is running optimally? If it’s been a few years, one of our professional technicians will run through our furnace maintenance checklist as they ensure your equipment is working well.
Our furnace maintenance checklist includes:
Cleaning the system – dust and dirt can take its toll on all of the components in your heating system. We ensure every part of your equipment is clean.
Heat pump – if the heat pump goes out, there’s no heat flowing through the ducts into your rooms. We inspect the pump to ensure it’s working the way it should.
Filters – we change out your filter and put in a new one. We’ll also give you recommendations for how often to change them, and what filters work best for your home.
Carbon monoxide check – all furnaces give off small levels of carbon monoxide – all gas appliances do. But your furnace should work properly to ensure your safety – something we check and take seriously.
Thermostat – your thermostat should be calibrated correctly to give you the ability to heat your home and keep it your desired temperature properly. We can install a new one, help you program it, or make recommendations for upgrading to smart technology.
Registers and vents – your furnace isn’t a standalone unit. It relies on the ventilation system – your registers and vents – to deliver conditioned air throughout the home. We look for obstructions and ensure they are working correctly.
Fan – the fan should turn on when the system begins to operate. It should also be fully calibrated and operating correctly.
When we leave after going through our furnace maintenance checklist, you’ll know your furnace is operating the way it should. Give us a call today.
